Police said on Saturday they had arrested 10 people in connection with two robbery cases in Yau Ma Tei in which money exchange businesses were targeted.
Officers said three of the suspects attempted to rob a man of US$500,000 on Nathan Road last Tuesday.
Two suspects have been charged with robbery and will appear in Kowloon City Court on December 17 for mention.
The second alleged robbery case took place on September 28 near Waterloo Road in Yau Ma Tei when staff from a money exchange carrying HK$15 million dollars were attacked by four people armed with choppers.
The gang managed to drive off with HK$5.3 million.
Police subsequently arrested six men and a woman, aged between 21 and 28, on Friday across the territory. They also recovered HK$300,000, walkies-talkies, a safe and some clothes.
Detective Chief Inspector Tong Kam-wai described the second robbery as carefully planned, but believed they had smashed the syndicate. He said more arrests could follow.
